Conducting a child custody evaluation is intense and comprehensive. I spend time meeting with the respective parties, children, and all others who may speak about the child's functioning and parent's abilities to care for the child. In addition, I conduct psychological testing, review collateral information, and thoroughly consider all necessary information to help in answering the Court's questions and concerns.
When there are concerns about a child's mental health level of functioning, I will provide a thorough assessment by testing, meeting with parents, interview with the child and in some cases provide a written report. I routinely assess and treat for children with ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, Fears, and conduct related problems. I am also oftentimes requested to conduct intellectual assessments for youth. In these situations, I will provide a parent with a written report which reflects his/her child's performance and meet with the parent to discuss the results.
When there is a need for consultation, I am requested to serve as an aide to an attorney. In these situations, I provide direct guidance in effort to help the attorney develop a strong defense on behalf of their client. I find that this role benefits the clients by giving a more depthful perspective and in developing strategy in preparing for court hearings and trials.
